Soooo close... :)

It has been a while since my last post. Centre of Hope has seen so much activity in the last month that it has been hard to write just about the Subzero challenge with all the other amazing things that have been happening. Our Subzero challenge has been doing wonderful; we are very close to our goal. We are only $1,553.55 away from reaching our goal of $25,000.00. On Feb 5th we participated in a National Toque Tuesday. As some of you may know, in the fall of 2012 we partnered up with Raising the Roof organization and joined their Toque Campaign. We have been selling these toques at some of our favorite local businesses across the town. On Toque Tuesday we had five local businesses helping us out and they continue to sell the toques until the end of this month. These toques are only $10, they are basic black with a Raising the Roof logo and they are very warm. You can find them at: Lifeforce Herbal Healing Centre, The Final Touch, Decorator’s Choice, Sweet Escape Spa and Drop Dead Darlings. 80% of net proceeds will be coming back to Centre of Hope and going towards our Subzero Challenge.
Besides these two events, we also had our 7th Annual Ride for Hope on Feb 7th. The ride went really well and the funds raised from this event will be announced shortly. We are also gearing up to a new event happening on Feb 23rd. Our Municipal Councilor Phil Meagher will be skiing from Fort Chipewyan to Fort McMurray in one shot. His ride of 280km is expected to take anywhere from 30 to 40 hours. Phil like Ken is doing this in support of Centre of Hope. We are so lucky and blessed to have so many of our community members be such great and amazing supporters of ours.

On March 1st I will announce our SubZero Challenge amount, and the amounts raised from both of the rides.

SUBZERO Challenge $3,472.55 to go...

If first two weeks of a new year is any indication how the rest of our year will go, than we will have a GREAT year! :)
As you all know we ended 2012 strong, but 2013 is looking even better. In just two short weeks we raised another $5,000 some dollars. Up to date we are sitting at $21,527.45. Our new goal of $3,472.55 is more achievable than ever. Fellow residents, challenge your family and friends to a $5 dollar donation. Challenge your facebook friends and tweeps to meet or beat your donation. Local businesses, support your staff by matching their donations.
Some of our patrons are staying outside in these sub- zero temperatures even through the nights. Together we have to make sure we do the most we can.
Help the Centre of Hope heat the streets this winter; your generosity will bring warmth to someone in need.

The other day I read a quote that really stayed with me, I ask you to give it some thought:
“What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains” Albert Pike

Ending a year on a Fantastic note!

$16K out of $25K in 31 days!!!
It has been such busy two weeks. Our centre has received and seen so much generosity! We have gotten numerous and various types of donations. From winter clothing donations, hygienic items, gift cards, to smiles and appreciation for what we do. Among all the donations, monetary donations have been going strong! I am so happy to say that in one month we have reached 64% of our goal. I want to thank you all for supporting us and giving us more HOPE every day that this year we will reach our goal of $25,000! Without you, our supporters and friends, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Can't wait for 2013!!!

From all of us at the Centre of Hope, we wish you all a happy and healthy 2013!

Sitting at $12,405 on day 14 of our challenge!!!

As the days pass by at our little centre we get more and more overwhelmed at the donations that are coming in. Just on Monday I was so happy to announce our $8,760 number, and only four days later I'm even more thrilled to let you all know we are almost half way there!!! This gives us high hope that this year we will be able to meet our goal of $25,000 dollars.
Stay tuned on a blog of other types of generous donations that are just as much appreciated.

WOW we are at $8,760 already!!!

We are lost for words on the generosity we have seen so far since our SubZero challenge started.
It is truly beyond my expectations for the first 10 days. We are so blessed to live in such a community where people are so caring, giving and really understand our need. THANK YOU to all!!!!

Another GREAT day at COH! $2,360 closer to our goal

The excitement at Centre of Hope continues :). This morning we picked up boxes of great donations from Westwood High School. Everything from: winter jackets, sweaters, toques, mittens, socks and toiletry. Thank you Westwood High!!! We are also looking forward to Raising the Roof toques being sold by your wonderful students in the next two weeks.

Some more exciting news. We just received $750 dollar cheque from Suncor‘s SunCares Community Service Volunteering Grant program, thanks to Wayne Macdonald! Also, we got $1,000 from Nexen’s Community Involvement program ReachOut, thanks to Christine White. It is so great to see how our community comes together. So far in almost one week of our $25,000 below zero challenge, we are at $2,360 dollars. So exciting!!!!
